To my Right Noble and Valorous Readers,

I have opinions
If that’s not something you previously knew about me, now you do.

Welcome to Elizabethan Endeavors! My name is Sophia – the Sophia behind Sophia, if you will. I’m a scientist, an artist, and an information-art-chaos-goblin with a passion for research, education, and accessibility.

A hairless cat that seems to be holding a crystal bowl with coins in it, and there are coins spilled on the table. It looks like the cat is protecting the hoard of coins.
An accurate picture of me. If I was a sphynx cat, and the coins were various books, crafting supplies, and office products.

I started Sophia’s Elizabethan Endeavors with the idea of being able to document my journey in creation, research, and learning all of the things I am interested in; while openly being able to discuss how my home life and mental health affect my motivations, decisions, directions, and processes.

If you’re like me, you might sometimes have difficulty finding motivation and direction. Maybe focusing is too hard (or you go the other way and hyper-focus), possibly you have an overwhelming desire for perfection, and a million other things that seem inconsequential until everything is just too much. You’re probably also interested in the culture of Elizabethan England, to some extent.

I’d like to think that this will develop into a space to help you as it helps me. No, I’m not a therapist, but I’ve been to tons of therapy, and have been lucky enough over the past several years to work on habits, routines, and support systems that help me be healthier. Seeing another person succeed can be the catalyst to personal success.

In regards to Elizabethan Endeavors specifically, I am dedicated to:

  • Accessibility of materials. While I would like to always meet AA/AAA web accessibility standards, I understand that trying my best and making accommodations as asked is a good first step. Progress before perfection.
  • Accuracy of information. This does not cover interpretations of said information, because those are uniquely formed in part by lived experiences. It does mean that sources will be evaluated for bias and accuracy to the best extent possible.
  • Learning together. I am by no means an expert, and I have gaps that you can hopefully help me fill. I hope that some of the things I create, write, and ramble about are able to help you learn as well.

When I’m not working on Elizabethan Endeavors or things related to Elizabethan England in general, I am cuddling with my cat, working on improving online education access within the SCA, trying to increase physical accessibility at events, or sharing my surprisingly large number of opinions.
